Human Brain Need Vacation

Doing the same routine every day will lead to saturation and the brain can not work optimally. There are 4 reasons that make the human brain needs a vacation.

A study conducted by the Families and Work Institute found that doing a vacation like going to museums or the beach nearby is important for the brain.

Here are 4 reasons that make the holiday becomes important for the brain, as quoted from Myfoxorlando.com:

1. Improve Memory
Dr. Russell Poldrack as director of the Imaging Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin said the holiday will provide a new experience, this condition will make the brain responds by releasing dopamine into the hippocampus (part of the brain that creates a memory or memories). This will improve memory and help protect against Alzheimer's disease.

2. Enhance creativity
American and French researchers found the holidays can increase the ability to solve problems, raise awareness of the connection is lost and to encourage people to try something new. This is because vacation facilitate the mind's creativity.

3. Sharpens concentration
Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh reported that people with serious health conditions tend to take less time thus increasing the levels of stress hormones. Poldrack said when someone is tired, then the prefrontal cortex will be overwhelmed due to the amount of stress hormones and makes one lose focus or concentration.

4. Provide rest time
The study found 2-3 days after the holiday people will have a rest time and a higher quality sleep, it can even be increased to 80 percent. Quality sleep can improve memory and brain health.

Cyber Crime

There is a very old and correct saying that goes on to say that a coin has two sides. Like a coin almost every aspect of life has two sides. For example the most common example can be taken of the advent of technology and the crime associated with it. With the advent of time and technology, computers have formed an integral part of the working society. Computers along with them have brought greater work and time efficiency in the working circle of the society as a whole. But there comes the twist. Along with all the benefits that computers and technology have brought, there also comes the rising and alarming threat of cyber crime.

Cyber crime in recent times has been credited along with a lot of attention by the general public, thanks to the almost impossible crimes committed by the hackers. The dangers that cyber crime is posing to computers and information in computers has been acknowledged by almost all the countries. Serious concern and alarm have been raised against the growing threat of cyber crime and its potential threat to the information possessed in the computers. The reason that cyber crime is posing a serious threat, is because of the reason that most countries around the world have no existing law that they can exert against cyber crimes. This leaves the businessmen and their business at the mere mercy of the technology that is being used by the businessmen in their business.
The only resort that the individuals have or can take against cyber crime is the way of self protection. Although self protection is the one step that people can take against cyber crimes, but still unfortunately it’s not a full proof safe step. As hackers can easily hack through the computers of others, this makes the information stored in the computer more vulnerable to information leakage. One main reason why cyber crime has been gathering so much of attention, is because of the fact that cyber crime has no boundaries of working or occurring. Cyber crime have been reportedly breaching national barriers at ease there by jeopardizing the political and the defense strategies of the country in front of the other nations, as it has been reported that after committing the crime the hackers sell the leaked information to the rival countries for money.

The other reason as to why cyber crime is posing a serious threat is because of the fact that it is usually very hard to track the hackers as they operate together but from far and different places, making it harder for the law enforcers to track and find them. These hackers usually operate from different and far off places, sometimes even different countries making it almost impossible for anyone to track them.
Thus national bodies and governments should operate together to make a legal framework and structure through which no hackers can slip through after committing cyber crime.

Malin Kundang

Once upon a time, lived a very poor family in West Sumatra and this was a family of Malin Kundang. To provide a living for his family, his father went to sea but never returned home. People talked about his father’s death and made his mother so anxious in each day. Furthermore, he was still very young and had not been able to help his mother.

However, life must go on. His mother did not want continuing to grieve and doing nothing. His mother chose to work hard and did a lot of jobs every day. However, his family financial had not improved since the money was only to meet their daily needs without being able to be saved.

Seeing his mother continued to work in each time, he did not have the heart and intended to help his mother. He asked his mother to sail and made money as much as possible. At first, his mother was not banned because of fear that Malin did not come back like his father. Nevertheless, he kept pressing until his mother allowed him to go.

He immediately set to sail because it has been allowed by his mother, and his departure was accompanied by his mother’s sobs. On board, he continued to learn and began to know the ins and outs of the ships and commerce.

Many years after the initial voyage, he had not had the opportunity to visit his mother in the hometown. Indeed, he was eager to go home but there were so many jobs to be done. In one time, he asked for permission to skipper of the vessel and allowed to go home. Malin was very excited and with the whole of crew, he returned to his hometown.

But, fate has not given him permission to go home. In the ocean, his ship was intercepted by pirates and all crew were massacred. He was very lucky because could hide and survived from the massacre. He ended up stranded on an island and worked hard to be a wealthy merchant. Fortunately, he was success. His wealth is so abundant because of hard working to build a wealth. He also married a girl who was very pretty and rich so that they could live happily.

With wealth and a prosperous life, he forgot to return home in order to meet his mother. However, inadvertently Malin had to go to his hometown for commercial affairs. He set off with his wife and children to come back home.

Arrived at his hometown, Malin Kundang met his mother and his mother hugged him very close. However, he even scolded his mother and pushed up a heap. He actually recognized his mother’s face, but there is a huge shame because there are crews as well as his wife. In front of them, he did not acknowledge that a woman who fell down was his mother. He even told her that her mother was so despicable and he did not recognize it.

After completing his business, he got out of his hometown. His heart had hardened into stone. With his wife and his children, he went sailing back. His mother was her sad and inwardly, he prayed that Malin changed into stone.

Instantly, the sky became overcast, lightning, and rain was falling. His ship hit rocks and was crashing. Malin bodies swayed to the opposite shore and the magic happened. He slowly turned to stone and it was known as Malin Kundang stone.

Why Findland’s Schools Are So Successfull

For many years the school system in Finland has been very successful. In the PISA survey, which compares reading, math and science knowledge of 15 year olds around the world, Finland is not only the top European country but also competes with Asian giants like Shanghai, Singapore and South Korea. But what makes the educational system in this small country so strikingly different from others in the western world.

First of all, the Finish government makes it possible for all children to attend preschool, which comes after kindergarten. Compulsory education begins at 7. Teachers work with their pupils in school as much as possible. They have little homework to do when they get home.  When teachers are not with the pupils they spend a lot of time in schools working on the curriculum and new projects.  They teach in teams if it helps them reach their goals. That is why dropout rates are low compared to other countries.

In contrast to other nations teaching in Finland is a highly admired profession. Finland selects its teachers very carefully.  Only talented students go on to a university and receive a master’s degree in education. Finland only takes the best to educate its youth.

Schools in Finland are small, at least for international standards. More than in any other country teachers are ready to prepare children for life. In some cases they know every pupil in their school and can adjust to them. Teachers try everything to succeed with their pupils. Most of the pupils get additional help in their elementary school years, either by the teachers themselves or through specially trained educators.

Weaknesses of Indonesian Economic

Chamber of Indonesia Commerce and Industry (Kadin) declared Indonesian economy that is actually very promising for both domestic and foreign investors. However, there are still weaknesses seeing by Kadin of the economy that need to be addressed. Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Novian Anindya Bakrie said, promising Indonesian economy is evidenced by incoming investment, private consumption, and vibrant business world.

“But there are still some weaknesses that Indonesia’s economic structure needs to be addressed now,” said Anindya at Menara Kadin Jakarta, Wednesday (06/03/2013).

Anindya see Indonesia’s economic weakness is in the trade deficit. Currently due to larger imports than exports then it makes more Indonesian trade balance to be deficit. Moreover, the largest import of oil and gas.

On the other hand, Anindya also highlights subsidy of oil (BBM) to the people who actually are not even on target. Current budget fuel subsidy enjoyed by the rich instead.
“As the impact, the deficit and the high pressure gas imports that led to the weakening of the rupiah,” he added.

Again, the actual budget for infrastructure even neglected. He rated in the last few months that there is no improvement of government policy so that a problem cannot be resolved. Though foreign investors intending to invest in Indonesia as it will look up the bureaucratic infrastructure. If not good, then foreign investors will pull out of Indonesia.

Yes No Question :

Definition:       An interrogative construction that expects an answer of "yes" or "no." Contrast with wh- question.
Examples and Observations:

Homer: Are you an angel?
Moe: Yes, Homer. All us angels wear Farrah slacks.
(The Simpsons)

"Directing a movie is a very overrated job, we all know it. You just have to say 'yes' or 'no.' What else do you do? Nothing. 'Maestro, should this be red?' Yes. 'Green?' No. 'More extras?' Yes. 'More lipstick?' No. Yes. No. Yes. No. That's directing." (Judi Dench as Liliane La Fleur in Nine, 2009).

Principal McGee: Are you just going to stand there all day?
Sonny: No ma'am. I mean, yes ma'am. I mean, no ma'am.
Principal McGee: Well, which is it?
Sonny: Um, no ma'am.
(Eve Arden and Michael Tucci in Grease, 1978)

The yes-no question is found in three varieties: the inverted question, the typical exemplar of this kind; the inverted question offering an alternative (which may require more than a simple yes or no for an answer); and the tag question:

Are you going? (inversion)
Are you staying or going? (inversion with alternative)
You're going, aren't you? (tag)

The inverted question merely inverts the subject and the first verb of the verb phrase of the corresponding statement pattern when that verb is either a modal or an auxiliary verb or the verb be and sometimes have. The question itself may be positive or negative:
She is leaving on Wednesday.

Is she leaving on Wednesday?
. . . A positive question appears to be neutral as to the expected response--yes or no. However, a negative question seems to hold out the distinct possibility of a negative response.

            Are you going? Yes/No.
            Aren't you going? No.
(Ronald Wardhaugh, Understanding English Grammar: A Linguistic Approach. Wiley-Blackwell, 2003)
"There are many different ways to format questions on a survey. Let's say you want to measure people's attitudes toward premarital sex. You could ask a simple yes-no question:
Are you in favor of premarital sex?
        ___ Yes ___ No
Or you could use a Likert-type scale where the question is phrased as a statement." (Annabel Ness Evans and Bryan J. Rooney, Methods in Psychological Research, 2nd ed. Sage, 2011) Also Known As: polar interrogative, polar question, bipolar question

Tag Question :

Question tags are the short questions that we put on the end of sentences – particularly in spoken English. There are lots of different question tags but the rules are not difficult to learn.

Positive/negative

If the main part of the sentence is positive, the question tag is negative ….
·         He’s a doctor, isn’t he?
·         You work in a bank, don’t you?
... and if the main part of the sentence is negative, the question tag is positive.
·         You haven’t met him, have you?
·         She isn’t coming, is she?
With auxiliary verbs
The question tag uses the same verb as the main part of the sentence. If this is an auxiliary verb (‘have’, ‘be’) then the question tag is made with the auxiliary verb.
·         They’ve gone away for a few days, haven’t they?
·         They weren’t here, were they?
·         He had met him before, hadn’t he?
·         This isn’t working, is it?
Without auxiliary verbs
If the main part of the sentence doesn’t have an auxiliary verb, the question tag uses an appropriate form of ‘do’.
·         I said that, didn’t I?
·         You don’t recognise me, do you?
·         She eats meat, doesn’t she?
With modal verbs
If there is a modal verb in the main part of the sentence the question tag uses the same modal verb.
·         They couldn’t hear me, could they?
·         You won’t tell anyone, will you?
With ‘I am’
Be careful with question tags with sentences that start ‘I am’. The question tag for ‘I am’ is ‘aren’t I?’
·         I’m the fastest, aren’t I?
Intonation
Question tags can either be ‘real’ questions where you want to know the answer or simply asking for agreement when we already know the answer.
If the question tag is a real question we use rising intonation. Our tone of voice rises.
If we already know the answer we use falling intonation. Our tone of voice falls.
